Springtime in September

The weather is finally getting nice! It is officially spring in Sydney. This past week has been amazing weather. On Friday, Celeste and Angela had returned from their spring break so I decided to spend the day with them. We did the 6 km walk from Coogee to Bondi Beach. It was a gorgeous walk and I would have pictures but unfortunately my camera has finally died :( . Anyways, we walked around the boutiques around Bondi Beach for awhile and then decided to save money and walk to Bondi Junction. This was about a 40 minute walk uphill. I get to the station at 6:22 pm only to discover the last bus to Newtown left at 6:20 pm...FML. I called an Australia friend (well technically she is British) and two buses later I made it home. Saturday was another beautiful day. A bunch of us went to Coogee beach for the day. It was finally warm enough that I had to go into the water to cool off. Sunday I wake up to yet another sunny day. I decide to go for a run at noon. WORST DECISION EVER. What I did not realize until I started running was that it was way TOO hot. I returned to my room dripping in sweat and dying of heat exhaustion. I check weather.com to discover that it was 90 DEGREES!! We decided to check out the public pool in the park to cool off. Susie also got her mother's sauce/lasagna recipe. This sauce takes all day to cook but it was sooo good. We had an italian family dinner complete with garlic bread, homemade lasagna, and some red wine. Today I went to class wearing my Chargers Jersey to send my Bolts luck on the opening game of the season, Monday night (well in the US) against the Raiders. I actually had one guy come up to me and tell me he wore black today to support the Raiders. Luckily the Chargers pulled off the win but of course they had to give me a heart attack in the process. Well I better go finish that paper before Mommy and Daddy come on Friday!

Blue Mountains

This past Saturday we went to the Blue Mountains. We woke up bright and early to get on a tour of the gorgeous Blue Mountains. Our guide took us to several look out points and then we did one big hike for about 2 hours. We actually decided to go off the path to try to get this other part of the mountain but we were running late to meet the rest of the group. Jake, Josh, and I decided we would just run the supposed 2 km to get to the Grand Staircase. After running for awhile, we realized it was a lot farther than 2 km and ended up having to turn around and run back. We were so late that the bus was almost going to leave without us. We were those annoying Americans that went off and did their own thing. Overall, the trip was amazing though. I definitely want to go back and explore the blue mountains some more. See some great pictures below. On Sunday, I went to the park with Chris and Jake to meet up with some Australians. They taught us how to play touch "footie" aka rugby. It took me a little while to pick it up but it was actually quite fun. I definitely need more practice tho!
